Since we last posted. With the holidays and a busy January things got a bit.. well, busy.

We have been hard at work on our first iPhone/Android apps. While we had to switch development platforms, we still plan on launching apps for each city where we have at least 20 businesses listed. Stay tuned on timing. If you would like to be in our beta group to help test the apps let us know! Send a note to team@foundtown.com

iPhone app on its way!

25 Aug

We are excited to share some details of the FoundTown iPhone app that we are hoping to launch in the next few weeks!

We always felt that users will get the most out of updates that local businesses are adding to FoundTown if they can review them on their phone. So, we have been working to create our first iPhone app. Over time, we hope to have an iPhone app dedicated to each city on FoundTown. The first iPhone app we are building is for Southlake, TX and then after a brief beta period we will quickly launch the Keller, TX and Colleyville, TX apps. This made a lot of sense for us because we happen to be working with the cities of Colleyville and Keller to possibly customize the app for their “buy local” campaigns and this will give us some time to work out those details.

Here are the goals of the app:

- Share updates, deals and events from local businesses

- Provide community news specific to the city

- Allow for users to share this content on Facebook, Twitter or via e-mail

- Provide social features that allow users to comment and “like” content from within the app to create a community

How does your business add updates to the iPhone app?

All you have to do is continue publishing your updates on FoundTown.com All of the updates from your city will automagically be pulled into the iPhone app!

We are excited about launching and will share more details soon. In the meantime, here are some screenshots of the app in development to give you an idea of the look/feel. Please let us know if you have any feedback – send a note to team@foundtown.com
